She was ten when she first felt it. The rush, the clattering of teeth, the complete feeling of freedom. She felt stronger than ever. All she wanted was to feel it again.
So, she started to search for it. Climbing in the highest trees and riding her bike down the steepest hills. The others didn’t understand it, they thought she was crazy and tried to get herself killed. She would never forget her mother’s panicked expression whenever she did something reckless.
She was 21 when she jumped off a cliff for the first time. Feeling as if she was ten again, with clattering teeth but an incredible feeling of freedom. She loved it. Much to her mother’s dismay, who had hoped her daughter would forget about this nonsense.
She was 24 when she got her license and two years later, she stopped counting her jumps out of planes.
She was 50 when her doctor advised her to stop jumping and act her age.
She was 51 when she rode a rollercoaster for the first time and felt like she was free again. Simply ignoring the weird look from staff and visitors alike when she waited in line for the third time that day.
She was 89 when she stopped searching for the rush and closed her eyes for the last time. A smile on her face and a life full of exciting memories.
